Our Classes

At Oak Grove Art Academy, classes are organized by age and developmental stage, with a clear progression that allows students to build skills over time. Our academy model emphasizes consistency, strong foundations, and thoughtful advancement rather than drop-in participation.

Students move through levels as they grow, gaining confidence, technical ability, and artistic independence.

Intro to Drawing

This level focuses on building comfort with art materials and developing core visual skills in a supportive studio environment.

Students will learn to:

  • Observe shapes, proportions, and simple forms

  • Develop hand–eye coordination

  • Use basic drawing and painting materials with confidence

  • Express ideas visually

  • Render Line, shape, and form

Classes emphasize structure and routine while keeping learning engaging and age-appropriate.

Ages: 11-13

Class: 2 hours once per week

Tuition: $65 per hour

Drawing Fundamentals

A structured introduction to drawing that builds strong observational skills, confidence, and technique. Students learn to see carefully, draw with intention, and develop a solid foundation they can build on for years

Students will learn to:

  • Draw from observation and reference

  • Understand proportion and basic perspective

  • Learn Value and Shading

  • Begin refining personal interests

Students gain confidence through structured assignments and visible improvement over time.

Progression & Placement

Oak Grove Art Academy is a progression-based program.

  • Students are placed by age and readiness, not prior experience alone

  • Advancement is based on skill development and maturity

  • Our instructors guide families on appropriate placement and next steps

Many students remain with the academy for multiple years, moving naturally from one level to the next.
